VILLA DEL CIGLIANO

“Villa del Cigliano” is in the Chianti Classico area near San Casciano in Val di Pesa (Florence). Built in the second half of the 15th century upon pre-existing medieval buildings, it was bought, at the end of the 15th century, by the Antinori family and still belongs to them. The Villa, the surroundings of which still keep their Renaissance structure, has a beautiful garden within its walls, with characteristics dating back to the second half of the 17th century when an enormous pool was built reflecting both the Baroque façade and the imposing decorated fountain of Neptune. The Villa and the garden preserve unchanged characteristics of ancient Tuscany. The Villa holds the original cellars, today dedicated to the ageing of the DOCG and IGT wines, while the cellar for vinification was built more recently (1996). Here, as well as the extra-virgin olive oil, the Chianti Classico grappa and Chianti Classico vinsanto, also produced are a DOCG Chianti Classico, a DOCG Chianti Classico Reserve, “Suganella” (IGT Tuscan red) and “Demodé” (IGT Tuscan rosè).
